Chilly Mornings, Busy Days, and a Grateful Heart

October 24, 2026by Jeannine Hanners

Pull up a chair, friend. It’s been a busy week around here, and I thought I’d share a little of it with you.

The mornings have been chilly, but the afternoons have been beautiful. I love this kind of fall weather—the kind that makes you appreciate a warm cup of coffee in the morning and a little sunshine later in the day.

I managed to clean out some of my closet this week, too. Notice I said some! 😂 But a little progress still counts, and it feels good to get started.

Between a couple of houses to clean and my everyday cleaning at church, I’ve stayed on the move. Yesterday, my phone counted 9,299 steps! My daily average is 6,223, and that’s only counting the steps when I’m carrying my phone. There’s no telling how many more I take when I set it down and keep working.

Some days, I don’t realize how much I’ve been moving until I finally sit down!

One of the most rewarding parts of my week was volunteering at the food pantry yesterday. There’s something special about being able to help folks who need a hand. We don’t always know what someone is going through, but we can offer kindness and help with what’s right in front of us.

I’m thankful I had the opportunity to be there and do my part.

Looking back, this week was filled with ordinary things: cleaning, sorting through clothes, getting my steps in, and helping others. Nothing fancy, but those everyday moments give me plenty to be grateful for.

There’s still more closet to tackle, and I’m sure next week will bring more cleaning. For now, I’m happy to sit a spell and appreciate the good in this week.

How has your week been? Have you been doing a little fall cleaning, enjoying the weather, or finding a way to help someone? I’d love to hear.

With love from the Cozy Porch,
Jeannine
